Concord Coalition Releases Review of Bush and Gore Proposals

The Concord Coalition released
a Report
Outlining Gore & Bush Social Security Reform Proposals. While highlighting
the good points of each plan, the authors conclude that "neither plan even attempts
to rein in the long-term cost of the program. Moreover, it is questionable whether
either would result in any net new savings since neither provides new funding
by raising new revenues or reducing promised benefits."
The full retirement age today is 65 years and four months. It rises by two months every year, gradually increasing to age 67 for people born after 1959.
