Public Support Grows for Private Social Security Accounts

July 23, 2002

A new Cato-Zogby opinion poll shows that more than 2 in 3 Americans favor reforming Social Security to permit investment in private, individual accounts. Support cuts across all demographic and ideological lines. What's more, the poll was conducted between July 8 and July 12, two weeks after the WorldCom collapse, and during a week when the stock market fell almost 700 points. Read Cato's press release here.
