Comission to Meet October 18

October 1, 2001

The President's Commission to Strengthen Social Security will hold its next meeting October 18 in Washington, DC. The exact location has not been determined. This meeting will likely include some of the testimony from independent experts originally scheduled for the commission's September 21 meeting in Cincinnati. That meeting was canceled in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Some members of the commission, including its co-chairman, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, have speculated that the commission's final report might be delayed until next spring. However, other sources indicate that, as of now, the commission is still planning to complete its work in December.
