Survey Shows Muslims Support Personal Accounts

October 3, 2000

Zogby International has completed what it calls the first comprehensive survey of Muslim-American voters, showing them to hold a mixture of conservative and liberal policy views. But on the question of Social Security, Muslim support for personal retirement accounts was overwhelming. Fully 85 percent favored allowing individuals to invest a portion of their payroll taxes in personal accounts, with 62 percent strongly supporting the move. Only 11 percent were opposed, with 5 percent strongly opposed.
