I oppose, at this point, allowing each individual to partially withdraw from the social security system in order to set up individual stock accounts. I think s.s. should still be a base line retirement system system, and then have it augmented by an expanded IRA, 401 system. The simple fact is if we partially privatize s.s. and then have a long term stock market drop, then there will be incredible pressure to further entitlements to help those people who now do not have a minimal retirement income.
