"I believe government should honor its commitment to workers currently drawing Social Security benefits and those who will begin drawing their benefits in the coming years. However, long-term reform is necessary for future generations. Instead of a government-controlled investment board, I believe Congress should continue working toward a long-term retirement security plan that allows individual workers to direct a percentage of their payroll taxes into a private investment account under their control. Quite frankly, I trust individuals, rather than the government, when it comes to saving for one's retirement years."
