America promised Social Security to working families for retirement security. I am totally committed to keeping that promise to ensure that my parents’ generation, the generation of my wife and I, and our children’s generation have the retirement lifestyle and health care that rewards years of hard work. Given the projections that younger working families may not have a good return on their Social Secutity investment, however, I believe they deserve the option of investing a small portion of their Social Security savings at a higher rate of return. Giving them control over some investment earnings keeps Social Security intact and ensures the promise of retirement security for all Americans.
